Preschool: Preschoolers will be learning colors, numbers, body parts (Using the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes), common phrases/words (hello, goodbye, good afternoon, friend, thank you, you’re welcome), and other songs. For Christmas and Graduation children will learn additional songs for performing. Books in English and Spanish will be read for additional language exposure. Spanish culture will also be introduced through photos, foods, hearing traditional music, and by doing map exploration. The Spanish Goals for Preschoolers: #1- that they develop an interest in both the Spanish culture and language; and #2 – that they learn and retain basic words in Spanish.

Kinder: Children in the Kindergarten/Kinder Prep class will be learning all that Preschool is learning. In addition, they will learn additional nouns (animals, foods, and clothing), phrases (how are you? what is your name? my name is..), and seasonal words. Children will play games (Bingo, Catch Phrase), sing songs, do motion activities and add coloring pages to their Spanish folders. Children in this class will have Spanish twice a week. The Spanish Goals for Kindergarteners/Kinder Prep Students: #1- that they develop an interest in both the Spanish culture and language; #2 – that they learn and retain basic and more meaningful words in Spanish; and #3 – children can have a basic two – three sentence exchange with another person in Spanish.
